Clarence Round
Clarence Round currently serves as the Coordinator of Creative and Emerging Media for the Oakland University (OU) Athletics Department. In this role, Round is lead designer and lead photographer, videographer, and social media manager for OU Athletics. He has successfully spearheaded numerous efforts to enhance the university's presence and engage the community through innovative digital content. His creativity and strategic vision have played a pivotal role in increasing engagement. His work has been recognized for its excellence with the 2024 Staff Member of the Year Award at the OU Black and Gold Awards. His ability to collaborate effectively across stakeholders ensures that the OU Athletics Department will continue to thrive in a dynamic digital landscape.
Prior to his role at Oakland University, Round showcased his skills as a creative service intern with the athletics department at Eastern Michigan University. During his time with the Eagles, he played a significant part in managing recruiting graphics and photoshoot files. Additionally, since 2019, Round has been working with various clients as a freelance graphic designer.
Outside of sports, Round was a Corporal for the United States Marine Corps from 2012 - 2016. He worked as an administrative specialist with the Department of Defense during his time in the military.
Round is also committed to mentoring emerging professionals, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers through thoughtful guidance and relevant internships. He is a popular guest speaker on campus in both classroom environments as well as larger speaking events, where he shares his insights and encourages young professionals to pursue their goals with confidence and determination.
In December 2020, Round graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in communications with a minor in graphic design from Oakland.
