OU voice students recognized at National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions

OU voice students recognized at National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions

Several Oakland University voice students were recognized in various categories — including CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music), Classical, and Musical Theatre — during the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Michigan Chapter auditions, which were held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Brighton High School in Brighton, Mich.

The auditions featured voice students from across the state, including 12 singers from OU who received the following recognitions:

Collegiate CCM 
- Isabeli Buendia was awarded 3rd prize. Buendia is a student of Alta Boover.

1st and 2nd year Collegiate Musical Theatre
- Avery Linden was awarded 1st prize. Linden is a student of John Paul White and was accompanied by Laura Blanchard.
- Chase Williams was awarded 2nd prize. Williams is a student of Carol Perry and was accompanied by Lois Kaarre.  

OU voice student Yeshua Hardy

OU student Yeshua Hardy was recognized at the NATS Michigan Chapter auditions.

3rd and 4th year Collegiate Musical Theatre
- Yeshua Hardy was awarded 1st prize. Hardy is student of Alta Boover and was accompanied by Laura Blanchard. 
- Anna Kaplan was awarded 3rd prize. Kaplan is a student of Nicole Joseph and was accompanied by Laura Blanchard.

1st and 2nd year Collegiate Classical
- Phillip Lupas  was awarded 1st prize. Lupas is a student of John Paul White and was accompanied by Lois Kaarre.
- David Glaskov was awarded 3rd prize. Glaskov is a student of John Paul White and was accompanied by Lois Kaarre.

3rd and 4th year Collegiate Classical
- Andrea Valenzuela-Lazcano was awarded 2nd prize. Valenzuela-Lazcano is a a student of Alta Boover and was accompanied by Lois Kaarre.
- Mila Pitman was awarded 3rd prize. Pitman is a student of Alta Boover and was accompanied by Lois Kaarre.

“We’re extremely proud of the work all of our students, faculty, and collaborative pianists put in to prepare for this, and for the support they received from OU,” said Dr. Alta Marie Boover, assistant professor of voice and assistant director of the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at OU.
