Dr. Purcell is an accomplished educational administrator with over two decades of experience in higher education leadership, financial management, and program development. She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Training and Development (MTD) from Oakland University.
Currently serving as the Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing at Oakland University, Dr. Purcell brings a wealth of knowledge from her previous roles, including Chief Administrator at the University of Michigan and Administrative Director at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has demonstrated expertise in budget oversight, staff supervision, strategic planning, and community partnerships. Through her work in higher education, she has played a pivotal role in developing and managing education programs, conducting financial and program audits, and fostering continuous staff development. Her research interests include resource allocation, infrastructure planning, and process improvement, as evidenced by her capstone project focused on aligning faculty teaching loads with off-campus program support.
A founding member of the Michigan Lean Consortium, Dr. Purcell has co-authored a significant economic development grant and led various training initiatives in lean principles and process improvement. Her dedication to advancing education and community outreach is reflected in her numerous workshops, presentations, and leadership training courses.
