Mark Michel
Mark Michel is a seasoned professional with over 40 years of experience in project management, business development, and engineering within the defense and aerospace industries. He currently serves as a Program Manager and Business Development Manager at Raytheon Technologies, where he oversees cutting-edge technology programs and identifies new Science and Technology opportunities.
Prior to joining Raytheon in 2017, Michel held numerous leadership roles during his 26-year tenure at General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). As Manager of Business Development for Advanced Programs, he collaborated with the Department of Defense, Department of State, Office of Naval Research, DARPA, and academic institutions to secure research and development contracts. Earlier in his career, as Manager of Electro-Optical Engineering, he led teams in the design, development, and integration of advanced electro-optical systems into combat vehicles, including the Abrams tank and the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS).
Michel began his career at GDLS in 1982 as an Electro-Optical and Sensor Engineer, contributing to the development of key defense technologies, such as the Abrams gunner’s primary sight and laser hardening for military vehicle sighting systems. His leadership on the Compact Modular Sight program led to its adoption in major systems for the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Army.
Michel holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Oakland University and completed postgraduate education in Physics at the University of Wyoming.
