Systems Engineering
Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary field that ensures the successful realization of complex systems. Our Master of Science in Systems Engineering program prepares engineers to act as the key interface between management, customers, suppliers, and specialty engineers throughout the systems development process. Unlike other engineering disciplines that focus on specific parts of a system like electronics, mechanics, or software, systems engineers concentrate on integrating these elements into a coherent and effective whole.
Systems engineers bring a unique perspective to the engineering process, including top-level functional design, project management, life cycle cost analysis and product lifecycle management.
Program Structure:
Required Courses:
- Foundations of Systems Engineering
- Choose 2 of the following:
- Advanced Systems Engineering
- Engineering Project Management
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Engineering Decision Analysis
Systems Elective Courses:
- 8 credits from over 20 Systems Engineering courses and more than 30 Industrial and Systems Engineering courses.
General Elective Courses:
- 8 credits from over 150 courses available across Systems Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and Informatics.
Theory Course:
- 1 course from a list of 6, including options such as Statistical Methods in Engineering, Engineering Operations Research, and Systems Optimization and Design.
This diverse curriculum allows students to tailor their studies to specific interests and career goals, providing a comprehensive education in systems engineering.
