Beth Guest (she/her) started teaching for OU as a special lecturer in 2017. Beth holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from the professional actor training program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She has 20 years of college teaching and directing experience. Previous teaching experience includes The University of Missouri, Aquinas College, Radford University, and Hollins University. She teaches a variety of theatre courses including Acting, Directing, Stage Movement, Stage Makeup, Acting the Song, and Musical Theatre Workshop. Currently, Beth teaches History of Musical Theatre, Introduction to Theatre, Auditions, and Acting the Script and Acting for Non-Majors.
Beth is proud to be a member of Actors Equity Association. She has been working as a professional actress for 20 years, performing for theaters across the country, including Mill Mountain Theater, The Missouri Rep, The Utah Shakespearean Festival, and Flint Rep. Beth performed in the world premieres of Bloom on the Flint Youth Theatre stage; as well as The Wrestling Season, performed at the Kennedy Center. Some of her favorite roles include The Baker’s Wife from Into the Woods, Rosalind from As You Like It, and Sara Jane Moore from Assassins.
Many of Beth’s former students have successful acting careers in TV, film, and professional theatre. Beth also provides private acting and audition coaching to her students.
