Milica Govich (she/her), known as Mila, joined the Oakland University faculty in 2004. Mila holds an MFA in acting from Ohio University’s Professional Actor Training Program, and a BS Ed from Duquesne University, where she was a solo vocalist and dancer in the world renowned East European folk ensemble The Tamburitzans.  Milica is an award-winning actor whose career has spanned film, television, and Broadway. Her recent work includes Criminal Minds, Bank Street Film's feature Triumph of the Will (starring Shira Haas), and she's a recurring judge on Law & Order. On the big screen, she first gained national attention in the blockbuster film The Fault in Our Stars as Ansel Elgort's mom, and she was named Best Protagonist at the 2019 Buenos Aires International Film Festival for her work in Mel. Other notable film performances include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (where she was saved digitally by Superman); Eloise; Trust; The Hour After Westerly (opposite Peter Jacobson); and the leading role in the award-winning Temporary, directed by her niece Milena Govich and written by David Cornue. Additional TV appearances include FBI: Most Wanted; Chicago Fire; and American Rust.

On stage, Milica appeared as Mrs. Rose in the Broadway revival and National Tour of 'Hello, Dolly!' starring Carol Channing. She has served as an associate artist at Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan (Let it Be, Rain Dance, Orphan Train), and has worked at many regional theatres including Meadow Brook (All My Sons, The Odd Couple (female version), A Christmas Carol, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Meshuggah-Nuns!, Beyond the Rainbow, And Then They Came for Me, Harris Cashes Out); the JET (Broadway Bound, Falsettos), the Performance Network (The Clean House, Sonia Flew,  In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play, The Threepenny Opera), and Waterworks (Barefoot in the Park), as well as many theatres across the country. She originated the lead role of Mary in the premiere of The Alamo at the Ruskin Theatre in Santa Monica.

Mila currently teaches Acting for the Camera and Advanced Acting for the Camera, the last of which she developed in response to the high demand from theatre students; and Intro to Theatre. She has also taught Actor Coaching, Musical Theatre Workshop, Acting for Non-Majors, and Stage Voice. Her students have appeared in films, television series and commercials, music videos, and on professional stages. She is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Milica studied acting with acclaimed acting teacher Fred Kareman at Carnegie Hall. 

Mila continues to work professionally in the Midwest, New York City, and in Los Angeles, California.
