Niki Rose is a lecturer at Oakland University where she supervises student teachers, teaches general music method courses and facilitates practicum experience for graduate students. In addition to teaching at Oakland University, Niki teaches elementary music full time at Meadow Brook Elementary in Rochester Community Schools. Prior to teaching in Rochester, Niki taught for 11 years at Hardy Elementary in South Lyon Community Schools.
Niki earned her undergraduate degree in K-12 Instrumental and General Music Education from Oakland University in 2010. She also earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Oakland University in 2015. Niki is a proud member of the National Education Association (NEA), Michigan Education Association (MEA), Rochester Education Association (REA), National Association for Music Education (NAFME), and Michigan Music Education Association (MMEA). She has been honored with Oakland University 10 within 10 Award (2020), MEA' Region 7's Outstanding Person in Education (2016), Oakland University SMTD MaTilDa (2010), and RCS Sparkle and Founder's Day Awards. Niki also regularly presents professional development at Oakland University and at the Michigan Music Conference.
Niki has a passion for teaching elementary music, where fun and love are at the heart of every lesson. She fosters a student-centered classroom where all students succeed because of engaging, differentiated instruction. Outside of the classroom, Niki enjoys spending time with her family, Jason, Harrison and Liliana.
