Social Media Guidance

OU embraces the responsible use of social media to communicate strategically and build relationships with current and prospective students, parents, faculty, staff and community members. OU’s social media team manages the university channels on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube; maintains and enforces guidelines for university-affiliated accounts; and provides social media consultation for the campus community. All social media content, whether built into a campaign or a single post, should align with OU’s institutional priorities and goals. 

Established unit, department and student organization social media accounts interested in collaborating with OU’s main channels should contact their account manager or reach out to [email protected]

Those interested in starting a new social media channel affiliated with OU should contact their account manager. The requirements for university-affiliated channels include at least one full-time staff member administrator (and additional members with password access) and the creation of a social media strategy and plan reviewed and approved by OU’s social media team.
