Allen C. Goodman
Allen C. Goodman is a Professor of Economics and the Director of Graduate Studies at Wayne State University. Professor Goodman completed his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1976. He is now a distinguished health economist.
He has published numerous scholarly papers in highly respected academic and professional journals. He is a co-author of a textbook on health economics, The Economics of Health and Health Care, which is now in its 8th edition, is used nationwide, and has been translated into a number of foreign languages.
He has extensively participated in policy discussions related to the City of Detroit, and the State of Michigan. These include a March 10, 2004 Detroit News Op-Ed piece “Detroit Housing Rebound Needs Safe Streets, Good Schools.”
Prior to coming to Wayne State University in 1986, Professor Goodman served in various capacities at Yale University, Lawrence University, University of Wisconsin- Madison, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, The Johns Hopkins University, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, among others.
