Daniel P. Hunter

Dan Hunter is currently the Deputy Director of Economic Development & Community Affairs for Oakland County, Michigan. Hunter oversees a team of over 65 professionals whose work involves both county-wide planning initiatives in areas of land use, commercial revitalization and environmental stewardship activities as well as business development experts who work with businesses of all sizes to assist in their growth and expansion in Oakland County.

Prior to becoming Deputy Director in 2011, Hunter served as Manager of the Planning & Economic Development Services Division since 1997. Hunter also served Oakland County for 12 years as a Senior Business Development Representative working in the areas of business retention, expansion and attraction with local and global businesses.

Hunter currently maintains professional memberships in the International Economic Development Council, CoreNet Global, the Michigan Chapter of the American Planning Association, the Michigan Economic Developers Association and the Urban Land Institute. Hunter also serves on the Advisory Board for the Oakland University Economics Department.

Hunter was previously employed by the City of Reading Penn., focusing on business expansion/retention and downtown redevelopment efforts. Hunter received a B.A. degree summa cum laude from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia and a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
