Julie Granthen
Julie Granthen graduated from Oakland University’s Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Additionally, she earned a Master of Business Administration from Oakland University, a Master of Arts in Economics and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo. Julie currently serves as an emerita director on Oakland University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors after previously serving on the board from 1990-1996 and from 2003-2015 receiving the Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1996 and Spirit Award in 1994 in recognition of her volunteer efforts. She is a past member of the Alumni Advisory Council for OU’s Honors College and currently serves on OU’s Economics Advisory Board. She was a founding board member for the Golden Grizzly Athletic Fund (Champions Club), is a member of the Community Board for Meadow Brook Theatre, and was a founding member of the advisory board for the OU Kresge Library. She served as the adviser to the OU Chapter of Fleece and Thank You and received the Farmers Bureau Faculty Recognition Award in 2017 from OU Athletics. Julie served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Village of Oakland Woods of the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan organization from 2010 through 2019. Julie currently chairs the Law Section of the Michigan Academy of Arts, Letters and Sciences and is a previous chair of its Economics section. She is a graduate of the Galileo Leadership Consortium as well as a 2014 graduate of MEPSS. She is a graduate of Leadership Oakland in its sixth class and also served on Leadership Oakland’s Champions Club. She serves as a precinct delegate in the City of Rochester Hills and serves as Chair of the Historic Districts Study Committee for the City of Rochester Hills and as vice chair of the Historic Districts Commission for the City of Rochester Hills. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and formerly served on its Master Lawyers Section Council.
