Academic Advising

Your academic adviser is your "go to" support system as you navigate your first year of college. Advisers guide and make recommendations to help you to find success. You are required to meet with your adviser at least once a semester.

How do I find my Adviser?

  • You can identify your assigned academic adviser on your MySAIL account. Log in at the top right of the screen with your NetID and password. Find the "Academic Profile" widget. You will see your Academic Adviser listed in this box.  
Appointments

If you have a quick question, we have drop-in hours through Tuesday, September 16. 

We know it feels like the semester just started, but it's already time to check in with the First Year Advising Center. All students are required to attend an advising session every semester to make sure they are on the right path toward academic success. 

We recommend you take advantage of our group advising sessions if you are interested in the following major areas:

During a group advising session, you will:

  • Learn more about your major, degree requirements and tips for success
  • Connect with other students in the same or similar major
  • Be able to schedule a follow-up appointment with your adviser after the group advising session if needed

Students in other majors, or those who prefer an individual appointment, can schedule using the link below. We have both in-person and virtual options.

Both group advising and individual appointments fill up fast, so sign up for one today! If you have any questions, or need help with scheduling, please call 248-370-3227.

Students often have questions in the first few weeks. Want to change your schedule? Talk to your adviser first! Need help navigating OU resources? We can help! No appointment is needed. We'll be here for you on the following days and times:

Monday - Friday
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
