Students admitted to teacher preparation programs in the School of Education and Human Services will use Student Learning & Licensure to complete key program assessments, log clinical hours, collect feedback during Student Teaching and prepare their professional portfolios.

The ELITE (Emerging Leaders in Training and Education) program supports first-year SEHS students in their transition to Oakland University. This initiative pairs student mentees with a faculty or staff mentor to help them thrive, belong and build lasting relationships that will carry them throughout their time at OU and beyond.

Students will be invited to join the program at the beginning of their first semester at OU and will have the opportunity to:

• Build meaningful relationships with SEHS faculty and staff mentors.
• Learn about campus resources, study skills and self-care strategies.
• Set personal and academic goals and track your progress throughout the year.
• Strengthen your sense of belonging and connection within the SEHS community.

Through this program, you will build confidence and belonging as part of the SEHS community; strengthen your academic and organizational skills; discover new resources, opportunities and professional connections; and develop habits that support your success beyond your first year.
