Yes, transfer students are required to attend orientation before course registration is permitted.
In the Transfer Student Toolkit are instructions to schedule your Transfer Student Orientation. You can schedule your Transfer Student Orientation based on the semester you will begin classes at OU.
During your Transfer Student Orientation, you will meet with an academic adviser who specializes in your major. You will receive course recommendations, register for classes, and get answers to any questions you may have.
A preliminary evaluation of your coursework (showing how your earned credits apply to OU degree requirements) is sent to you by mail within a few weeks of admission. Your academic adviser will also review your transfer credits during your orientation.
At your Transfer Student Orientation, you will register for your classes with your adviser. At Oakland University, we follow a full-year registration process, which means you can register for an entire year’s worth of classes (summer, fall, and winter semesters). Alternatively, you can always register for a class through the first couple weeks of each semester start.
Contact Orientation and New Student Programs at [email protected] or 248-370-GOLD to schedule a time for us to show you around!
