Dr. Kevin A. Ball, dean of the School of Health Sciences (SHS) at Oakland University (OU), enjoys providing team vision, academic leadership, research mentorship and administrative oversight in over 30 programs across the School’s five broad academic themes / departments.
With more than 100 scholarly publications and presentations, Dr. Ball’s early career-research focused on human movement science through gait, posture and balance analysis. His later interests have turned to interdisciplinary health program development and organization.
Prior to joining OU in 2016, Dr. Ball served as associate dean for research and community in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Hartford. Prior to that, he served as academic director for the Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics program, the director of the human movement science laboratory and taught in the physical therapy department. He has also held academic positions at the University of Buffalo, Ithaca College, New York Chiropractic College, McMaster University and the University of Toronto.
Dr. Ball has chaired and/or served on many academic/administrative planning committees covering a broad range of topics and has contributed to multiple community partnerships promoting STEM education. He is also experienced in grant review in the rehabilitation sciences.
In his free time, Dr. Ball enjoys spending time in the great outdoors - including walking, hiking, biking, kayaking and camping - with family and friends.
