Authorizing Body:

Curriculum Committee

Date Issued:

August 1, 2011

Last Update:

November 15, 2021

Rationale:

Good academic standing should be clearly defined and communicated to students, faculty and staff because it is a standing requirement for application to and/or continuation of many scholarships, internships, externships, research opportunities, school-sponsored travel and class leadership position

Scope and Applicability:

All students enrolled in the School of Medicine

Standard Practice Guideline:

Any unremediated course failure on a student record in any academic year or being placed on Probation or Suspension by the SPRC will remove a student from good academic standing. A single course or clerkship grade of Incomplete is not sufficient to remove a student from good academic standing.

Procedures:

Students must request a verification of Good Academic Standing from the School of Medicine Office of Records and Registration.
