Abhinav Krishnan, Ph.D.
Associate Dean of Medical School Admissions
 and Enrollment Management 

Abhinav Krishnan, Ph.D., MPH, is the associate dean of Admissions and Enrollment Management. Prior to OUWB, he was responsible for enrollment management and admissions as the associate director at Wayne State University School of Medicine where he also gained experience working as a research manager for NIH and private pharma-funded clinical and translational studies.

Dr. Krishnan has a master’s and Ph.D. degree in physiology along with a master’s in public health from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He has been involved in medical research and medical education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interest focuses on neural control of cardiovascular function during exercise and its impact on public health as it relates to underserved populations.

Additionally, Dr. Krishnan currently serves on the diversity and inclusion committee for the American Physiological Society, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Trinity Health, and has served on national committees and workgroups for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) as a national ambassador for the Center for Health Justice, Promising Practices in Admissions & Holistic Review, and PREview.

Dr. Krishnan, a southeast Michigan native, also volunteers his time in various leadership roles for community service organizations such as Hype Athletics, Veterans Affairs Hospital, and MatchLighters.

Ray Wilson, MSA
Director of Medical School Admissions
 

Ray Wilson, MSA, is the director of Medical School Admissions. Ray has more than 15 years of higher education admissions experience at several levels including undergraduate, transfer, non-traditional and medicine. Prior to OUWB, Ray spent five years as the associate director of Admissions & Financial Aid at Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED).

While at CMED, Ray helped lead the recruitment and admissions efforts, including the implementation of a new virtual interview system and process, the development of new in-person recruitment events and spearheaded other advancements in the admissions process including technology and social media enhancements.

In his role at OUWB, Ray will develop a comprehensive admissions recruitment plan to continue the growth of OUWB as a national medical school. He oversees the OUWB Admissions staff and all activities related to interview days, recruitment events, student ambassadors and other duties as assigned. 

Ray is a native of Kentwood, Michigan having earned a bachelor’s degree, ’09, and master’s degree, ’20, from Central Michigan University.

Kendra Hawkins, MBA
Assistant Director of Medical School Admissions

Kendra Hawkins, MPA is the Assistant Director of Medical School Admissions at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB). In this role, she helps oversee the electronic application and data management process, coordinates the First Look program for prospective students, and manages the interview day experience within OUWB’s highly competitive admissions process.

Prior to joining OUWB, Kendra served as the Clinical Placement Manager for the School of Nursing at the University of Michigan–Flint. She also held the position of Program Manager and Internship Coordinator for the Public Health, Health Sciences, and Healthcare Administration programs at UM–Flint. Through these experiences, she gained extensive insight into both undergraduate and graduate programs, curriculum development, and student academic planning.

At UM–Flint, Kendra contributed to accreditation efforts, strategic planning initiatives, and the development of new processes and procedures. She also created professional development courses designed to enhance student career readiness and improve post-graduation employment outcomes.

A native of Flint Kendra earned her Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Baker College and her Master of Public Administration from the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan.

Monique Aftimos, MBA
Admissions Coordinator

Monique Aftimos is the Coordinator for the Office of Medical School Admissions where she is responsible for recruiting medical students, participating in OUWB Interview Days and Second Look, and coordinating the Admissions Student Ambassador program.

Prior to joining OUWB, Monique was a Director of Health Sciences at Baker College of Flint & Cass City and served as program administrator for the Department of Internal Medicine Residency Program for the Flint campus of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Monique’s experience extends beyond academia. She was part of a team that helped build a new physician’s practice, where she was involved in all aspects of the process including construction. This experience provides Monique with a comprehensive perspective of a student’s medical school journey.

Monique earned an MBA at Baker College Center for Graduate Studies.
