OUWB students receive comprehensive academic support throughout their academic program through the Academic Success Team. The AST partners with students to assist them with achieving their academic goals from before they arrive on campus all the way through graduation. Using a combination of workshops, individual coaching, and collaboration with faculty, the AST helps ensure that each OUWB student has the tools and support they need to be successful. If you would like more information about Academic Success programming, please email ouwb-studentaffairs@oakland.edu.

Academic Success Online Toolkit

Before arriving for orientation, all incoming OUWB students have access to an online toolkit designed to foster a successful transition into the rigors of medical school. This toolkit includes recommendations for effective learning, managing stress, maintaining personal well-being, and developing resilience. Incoming students can access the online toolkit but please note, an OU NetID and password are required.

Peer Tutoring Program

In addition to support available from the AST staff, OUWB students can participate in the Peer Tutoring Program at no additional cost. Tutors conduct weekly review sessions, provide individual tutoring, and host clinical skills/clinical reasoning practice sessions.

Advising Meetings

Individual academic coaching meetings facilitated by the Academic Success Team intended to provide guidance and support throughout your academic program.

USMLE Support

OUWB students have the opportunity to receive personalized, individual support leading up to and during the Step 1 and Step 2 preparation processes.
