What is instructional design?

Instructional Design aims to help faculty develop and deliver course content that optimizes the student learning experience. At OUWB, instructional designers work with faculty to create educational experiences that are learner-centered, aligned with best practices, supported by research, and is delivered in an engaging manner. Instructors work in partnership with instructional designers to share ideas and goals while gaining insights to improve the course content.

Supported Tools & Technology

OUWB instructional design offers guidance and support for effectively utilizing educational technology in an engaging manner across various teaching modalities (i.e., in-person, online synchronous, and online asynchronous). The following tools and technologies are currently supported:

  • Moodle LMS
  • eSpace
  • Video conferencing tools (Zoom & Google Meet)
  • Panopto
  • Camtasia
  • Poll Everywhere
  • Google Suite tools (Drive, forms, docs, sheets, and slides)
  • Microsoft tools (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Note: If these tools are not working as expected, instructors should contact OUWB Help Desk Support. 

Additional Services

OUWB faculty can access additional support through the OUWB Instructional Design Support eSpace (OU login required). From there, faculty can find the following additional services:
